vestibular sense
It was said in class today that this sense allows an organism to sense body movement, direction, and acceleration, and to attain and maintain postural equilibrium and balance. It was not said that this sense can be confused. Vi son can be confused with optical illusions and not seeing the gorilla moon walk across the screen. Hearing can be confused by hearing things, ex. hearing your name whispered in the wind. Vestibular sense can be confused by vertigo. the fluid in your inner ear is continuously flowing which sends signals to the brain of which attitude your body is in relation to gravity. an example is when a skier is in an avalanche and they try to did themselves out but they don't know which way id up so they could be digging in any direction.

Good point about vertigo. Even though we don't think about our vestibular sense, you can get an idea about how important it is when you get vertigo. Imagine trying to do some of the activities you do daily if you had a severe case of vertigo all the time. Getting from class to class in NBCHS would be almost impossible, not to mention dangerous if you had to get to a class on a different floor!
